Featured Band: Royers One Man Band

I invented and built the first Guitar Machine in Tucson in 1994 and since then have built three more versions, each time making it more playable and more portable (for playing on the street, in subways, etc…). The machine, often compared to a Rube Goldberg sculpture, consists of an acoustic guitar, a bass guitar and a cowbell all suspended in a copper pipe frame. I play all three instruments by depressing pedals with both of my feet. There are no computers or anything like that involved, it’s all mechanical. The pedals pull strings that cause several different movements on the machine, strings get plucked, capo things go up and down, a golf ball hits the cowbell, the “Pretty Polly” doll dances, etc… – Eric Royer

Featured Band: Dennis Brennan Quatro

His latest album, the aptly titled “Engagement,” is a perfect snapshot of Brennan at work. Divided equally into studio and live tracks, the diversity is stunning as he takes listeners on a journey that comes from the gut. And he doesn’t apologize for its variety. “This record is such a mix because that’s the way I hear things,” he says. “I love not having one style or sound.”

Le Mistral is the brainchild of Boston producer and multi-instrumentalist Dave Westner.  The ensemble was formed as a vehicle for recording studio creations, the premise being, “go in the studio, write something interesting and record it in one evening”.

Featured Band: The Gilded Splinters

The Gilded Splinters’ debut release resounds with contemporary Americana sounds, tinged with classic rock stylings. Its catchy hooks laced with glimmering production by JP Bowersock (The Strokes, Ryan Adams) make the record easily digestible and definitively inoffensive. Comparisons to alternative pop act Train (remember that irritating Drops of Jupiter song from the ’90s?) are, unfortunately, inevitable, as January possesses a similar sense of smoothed over pop grit and a vocalist with a nearly identical affect. Frontman Josh Buckley gives the occasional Mick Jagger growl during his musings over tortured women and grief-stricken lives to give the songs their strongest feelings of authenticity.  – NORTHEAST PERFORMER MAGAZINE

Featured Band: Reverse

“These guys stand out from the heavy rock masses. There is that same wink and nod in this music that there was in early Nirvana. That wink and nod that says there may be a whole lot more going on here than we are letting on. Each song on this album is a ticking time-bomb of aggression buried deep inside a candy-filled pinata. Reverse has created the perfect recipe for hard rock: one part Nirvana emotional aggression, one part Radiohead song structure and experimentalism, throw in a dollop of texture from Brian Eno, and wrap it in a bow of original pop hooks.”
John Stazinski Insite Magazine

Featured Band: Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck

Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck headline both nights of Tweed River Music Festival and are your hosts for the weekend. We’re a group of friends who’ve got a love for music that just won’t let us be. Our paths have crossed and re-crossed for years or only just recently. We have played with some of the finest musicians you’ve never heard of and even call some of them friends. We’ve been around enough to know we only want to play what we like, what’s fun, what sounds good to us. Hope that works for you too.
