WHAT TO BRING: It’s Vermont! Pack for 50 degree days and 30 degree nights and remember it’s not Winter Tweed with out a little snowfall! It’ll warm up inside, so plan to peel down to cozy dancing clothes! An empty water bottle may be nice to have and refill to avoid the waste of plastic cups.

WHAT NOT TO BRING: We cannot not allow coolers or alcohol to be brought into the venue. They will do a bag check on the way in. Please be cool about this rule. We’ve bragged to Pico about our fans, so show them how respectful we can be.

WHERE TO STAY: Condos are still available at Pico. If you call Killington Reservations and say you’re attending Winter Tweed Carnival, they will give you 20%. If you decide to book after Reservations has closed, you won’t get the discount, but you’ll be sleeping slope side!

Old Man Winter still has at least one last gasp of refreshing cool air to send us on our way to a promising spring in the form of the Tweed Winter Carnival being held this weekend (March 23, 24, and 25) at Pico Mountain in Killington, Vermont. It may be your last chance to get in some winter activities, enjoy a little snow one more time, and take in some of the best acts in New England all at once. And with all that unreasonable Yankee winter angst we stockpiled but never had the chance to fully unleash, why not let it loose in the form of celebration as we embrace the changing of the seasons, New England style, where we do it best?

Pico Ski Resort may even have to shut down the lifts before the music starts on Friday March 23rd but that will not stop us either. We have made it through the floods of Irene and an unforgiving winter so these cancellations don’t faze us a bit. It just fuels our commitment to providing a great weekend of music and fun that we all need now. Even if the lifts are not spinning Pico is a great place. The experience of hiking up and skiing down in solitude on corn snow is a past time many locals look forward to. If the day is nice (and we plan on it being gorgeous), then it will be one hell of a deck party. So get all your friends and family together and come on down to Pico Mountain on March 23 and 24 and have some high altitude spring recreation and get down with some fabulous music.

SIMPLY PUT, THE TWEED RIVER MUSIC FESTIVAL IS EASY. You randomly pass by your friend in his ’65 Dodge van at the New Hampshire tolls, waving each other down, weaving in and out of traffic and following one another into Vermont. You roll into the venue and you find yourself immersed in the picturesque Vermont landscape. You’re pitching your tent while the tall pines and Green Mountains tower around you. There’s no rush. You crack your first beer and leisurely assemble what will become your home base for the next three days. Your friends start to trickle in and set up alongside you. Every thing is going perfect so far. You couldn’t have drawn it up any better. That second beer goes down so much easier than the first. The glass-half-empty side of you thinks, “Something has to go wrong.” It doesn’t. You realize high school philosophy is bullshit anyhow.

The Holy Plow combines the talents of three of Vermont’s most unique musical minds.
